Some Kind of Perfect

This is perfect for someone else’s space, or maybe a future space of mine. I tried for about 15 minutes to think of where it could go in my home, no success. If y’all think of it let me know. Or, you can just take this and do it yourself – you’ll be happy you did.

Not Your Grocery Store Challah

The last time I was in Israel was 2008. I stayed with some amazing friends and ate some amazing food. Most notably, I ate A LOT of challah. šŸ™‚ This challah was soft yet dense, and I had never tasted anything like it. Thankfully, my gracious host posted the recipe on her blog RIGHT HERE. I tried the recipe, and it may be a little saltier than I remember, but OH.SO.GOOD. You need to try it, don’t let the 5lbs of flour intimidate you – you’ll eat it all! Also, here’s a good video if you want to learn how to braid the challah.

This Weekend

Hey all, I had a great weekend, and here are some pics! Ok, this pic is from last weekend. I went downtown because I wanted flowers. I bought Mums and Delphiniums. It was only when I got home I realized these were Laker colors. Flower buying fail. But they sure looked pretty though! Went to an event in Calabasas on Saturday. FYI – Calabasas is BEAUTIFUL! As you can see, on Sunday it was NECESSARY to shave Moses… Anyone wanna make a sweater? Was in Anthopolo9ie later in the day. I used to work there a few years back and became rather unimpressed over time with the design factor. Then I saw the above and suddenly wanted a kid’s room to decorate. Also Anthropologie. Isn’t this cool? They dipped paper in die and rolled them up. So beautiful… tho kind of reminds me of a wasp’s nest. I want to do this somewhere to something.

My Summertime Balcony is Finally Finished! (Almost)

In one of my previous posts I set forth my balcony wish list. Good news! It (almost) came true! Here is the 95% finished product: Isn’t she purdy? Looks good, right?! A little more on the bohemian side, but for the outdoors, I’m cool with that! If you know me, you know I hate marijuana, so please note: this is a hookah, and has never been used for marijuana! Just wanted to make that clear. Flavored tobacco only, please! You can barely see the pool in this shot, but can’t you tell I have a kick-a$$ view? šŸ™‚ The makings of a doggie cabana. They love it. Admittedly, this area needs work. I would like something to lounge on, quite honestly. At this point, cannot afford. Not pictured: a Schwinn bike I FOUND lying in my designated parking spot, no joke (can’t wait to put a basket on it!) and the Potty Patch my mom most graciously bought for my dogs. So far two days and used once. Let’s hope it catches on! I almost …

Junk Food from Scratch

Two America favorites: Pizza and fried chicken. I made both this week, here’s how I did it! Combine flour, yeast, salt and sugar in a food processor and pulse to mix. 2. Heat water and oil in a microwave to between 125 and 130 degrees. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 10 minutes. 3. Once flattened onto baking surface, spread a thin layer of pizza sauce, then a thin layer of cheese, then all your toppings, then a thin layer of cheese again. 4. Bake at 450 degrees until …

By Popular Request!

I am a bad, terrible, horrible person. I know, I haven’t posted anything interesting at all in a while. Just posted stuff I wanted people to give me. I have great excuses though! 1. I was in the midst of Birthday season and 2. Well, yeah, I guess I was busy. Anyway, I’m really sorry. So as penance I am posting my super popular, super tasty, super secret kosher gumbo recipe.
