Have you ever been holding on to a picture or blog post for an entire year? No? Well, I guess I’m different. I made a pie for Pi Day in 2015, because 3.1415. By the time the pie was made and photographed, it was too late to post, and I couldn’t just post on 3.1515. So here I am, a year later, posting on 3.1416! This was supposed to be a Strawberry Rhubarb pie, but silly me, who has never had rhubarb before didn’t know that it’s not exactly in season until April-ish? In any case, I had actually seen rhubarb at the farmer’s market a week before. When I went to the grocery store to buy it, the grocer laughed at me. So I made a mixed berry pie instead. And you know what? It was freakin delicious. Turns out my friend Jolene’s birthday was the next day (Happy Birthday, Jolene!), and this pie made the perfect dessert. Happy Super Tuesday! Today is the day that will set the course of American history forever. Or so I’m told. Usually during a voting day my husband and I are glued to some 24hr news channel, but tonight is the next episode in the OJ Simpson miniseries, soooo… yeah, we might just wait until the morning to find out what happened. Hey, you know what’s awesome? Crockpots. Minimal work, tons of patience (or forgetfulness, either one) and a huge, delicious pay-off. I have a feeling that my crockpot is going to become very important in my immediate future, for reasons I’ll let you know about in a few weeks. But before you think that this recipe is going to involve just chopping up and throwing in, think again. When it comes to beef stew, you CAN just throw stuff in, including raw meat, but guess what.
