Who is ready for Chanukah? (Me, me, me!) Confession: I am not a latke girl. I like eating latkes, but I hate making them. I make sufganiyot, from scratch. Thinking sufganiyot is too hard to make? Well, you’d be wrong. It’s easier to make than Challah, and frankly, if you celebrate Chanukah, you should buy yourself a deep fryer. My Chanukah Sufganiyot are more than just boring old jelly donuts. I love to experiment with different flavors and textures to create a Chanukah Sufganiyot experience.
We just celebrated Thanksgiving today, and boy was it delish! My husband pretty much did everything, and it turned out great. What did I do? Make Sufganiyot. And this was my 3rd batch, by the way. Chanukah is still a month away, but I think my true passion in life might be donuts.
I teamed up with Crafted Kosher to use their vast array of specialty items to create sufganiyot magic. Never heard of sufganiyot? Basically, they are filled donuts. They are a little breadier than your average donut, but donuts all the same, and most of the time they are just filled with plain old strawberry jelly and topped with plain old powdered sugar. Well, not this year, not on my watch.
Crafted Kosher is a company that sells and ships specialty kosher items, which are often difficult to find in the store. Living in North Carolina, my kosher options are much more limited than they were in Los Angeles, so I was beyond thrilled when my box arrived with all kinds of kosher goodies that inspired me to make Chanukah Sufganiyot Six Ways!
